In this after-school class, my youngest students—ages four to six—explored art as play and discovery. We worked across a wide range of materials and projects: collage, simple hats, little pouches, painting, and mixed-media making. The focus was less on finished products and more on the joy of trying—cutting, gluing, building, and seeing what each material could do—while building fine-motor skills and confidence in their own ideas. I also led a five-day spring-break camp for this age group, building on the same hands-on, exploratory approach across a full week of making.
